Floating Solar Demonstration & Ecological Impacts Study
An ongoing project wherein ADEPT is deploying a floating PV solar (FPV) array in the Port of LA. The roughly 850 kW of clean power generated will be consumed by an adjacent cargo handling terminal, reducing reliance on the strained grid and increasing local renewable resources, which can be used to electrify heavy duty equipment. As part of the initial FPV demonstration, ADEPT, with the help of University researchers, is studying the impacts of modified light conditions on eelgrass beneath the solar arrays. These installations must exist in harmony with marine habitats. Therefore, it is essential for the success of future coastal FPV deployment that the interplay with the natural environment is well understood.
